Look what I made

I used all my oddments of Rowan Rope, hence the chunkyness of the square. I ran out so I had to stop.

 

It has taken pride of place in my creations bag, I think I am going to have to start another one :)

Autumn

Summer came and went. We have now moved into cold nights which equals candles and rest blankets in our house. fine by me =]

 

I been enjoying the quiet nights with a spot of crochet. I have wanted to learn how to crochet for as long as I can remember. I attempted to teach myself a couple of years back but gave up. I became an admirer instead, devouring colourful blogs and pictures elsewhere. However It was my birthday last week and I decided to spend some of my birthday money on this book.

 

What can I say? I have been merrily hooking all week, and our house has been covered with little fibre creations like this.

 

They are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been enjoying myself which is the main thing. I love the texture that crochet creates, it's so interesting.

 

I managed to complete a granny square which probably isn't perfect but I was so pleased I actually finished it! I plan on using every spare piece of yarn in the house making these bad boys.

 

Long may the hooking continue =]

Friday

So this week has gone pretty quick. For some reason time moves quickly when you are on holiday, faster for sure.

This week I have:

These are from a 'secret' project which I cannot share but am really loving :)

Finally finished the worst book ever: The birthing House by Christopher Ransom.

Ordinarily I would never waste my life reading a book I loathed, however it was chosen by the book club I am in with my friends so I felt obliged to finished the damn thing.... I have started the next one: Black Widow by Jessie Keane, it's marginally better but very much in the style of Martina Cole, so you have read one you have read them all....

Cleaned my house every day - mmmmm bliss

Hung out with my friends kids which is nice because it reminds me how imaginative children are :)

Caught up on TV shows some old, some new: Roswell, The Ghost Whisperer, Gilmore Girls, Private Practice, and True Blood: me likey :)

Slowly caught up with all my neglected friends and family - still plenty more to go :)

and discovered that today it is only 130 days until Xmas, and I really want to go here!!!!

Off to see The Ugly Truth tonight, very exciting indeed :)

Sunday

Already! I can totally see this holiday just running away from me!
Last night we went for some tapa's at La Tasca, they were having a promotion so we thought why not?!. It was really nice to go out for dinner, we also decided to see Harry Potter 6, which I enjoyed but I also left wanting more.... I know the movies can never emulate the detail that the books go into but I felt it could have been adapted better...OMHO...

I also dyed my hair again, I am totally loving the red theme, it was 'extreme' red this weekend which I love but it just washes out so quick..

 

And this little gift was chosen by moi to congratulate me on my first year completed

 

I have 'Princess' by Vera Wang and I love it, so when I saw that she had a new perfume out I was hopeful it would head my way...and it sure smells yummy..

Lastly, I have to mention a funny story: The bunnies and kitty met a five year old who was a little noisy (but aren't all boys) lets just say they were not too amused, so it looks like I will be child-less for a fair few years, I will just be the 'mad-bunny-lady' actually: cancel that as I already am!!! TTFN.

The one where I scrapped...

It's been a LOOOOOOOONG time since I made a mess with glue, paper and photos and called it a page of yummy.

So two pages last night, simple, basic and to the point, but a major triumph really. I am back in the saddle, wonder if I can scrap all the photos I want to before September (ummmm don't think so).

Wednesday

I had a good day today, with my little sister D. She had an interview at UCA for her degree in fashion promotion, which went really well so fingers crossed she has a place. The name is so cool: the university of creative arts, how amazing to go to a university called that. I often wonder if I could have an education 'do-over' if I would follow that route...I love my sciences too much, I think the arts for me are my hobby rather than my direction, but one can still dream...

We spent the day together at Bluewater which was painful as we were both kinda broke, but we still managed to have fun. After lunch at TGI's we wandered around the shops and a few books did fall into my bag...so it wasn't a total window shop.

I just enjoyed spending the day with my sister. This evening I am spending the evening with another of my favourite girls: the Gilmore Girls, series 1.

Remember when...

I used to be quite creative and make things?? mmmm me too. I have been sitting here trying hard to make something but I think I have actually forgotten how! I even purchased some paper and stamps, in the hope that they would help me, I need to try and practice more...

 

I had a very hectic but lovely weekend, a wedding reception on Saturday and work on Sunday which was a struggle let me tell you. I have finally caught up on my sleep, in preparation for what is quite possibly the worst shift ever: Thursday, Friday and Saturday night...OMG... The brightside is that it is in the new birth unit which opened last week so low-risk birth's here I come!

Lots of books have been leaving/entering my house, I joined another book swapping site bookmooch which has made my postman very busy! No your eyes do not deceive you I did indeed purchase the limited edition copies of Twilight...Sad: yeah quite possibly...

 

I only managed to read three books last week; The Apprentice by Tess Gerritsen, Cat Detective by Vicky Hall. My pile of books that need to be read are mounting up everyday..I just can't stop myself adding to the collection though, book addict: yeah we kinda know that lol!.

This book continues to be a struggle, I am reading it for a book club with my friends and I just don't like it.... I will save my review/opinion for the next meeting in August.

Ok I really need to go and scrap something! wish me luck...

Time on my hands!

What a luxury :)

I finally finished my academic work for year one which is such a relief I can tell you! I have my placement to complete, which is 5 weeks then once my portfolio has been passed by the exam board I am officially a second year! and yes I am so pleased I made it this far...2 years of study out of 4 makes me half way already, and it has gone so fast! I fully intend to be a much more organised student next year (something I always promise) mostly because I haven't made things as easy for myself as they could be.

Mostly I am enjoying the freedom of no work to be completed, so I can read a book and not feel guilty. I have lots planned for my month off in August, mostly reading and hobbies. I have been hoarding books all year and my pile to be read is huuuuge. I have also got lots of photos to scrap so I will be busy!

I have lots of photos to add but I think I'll save them for tomorrow...

Energy Drinks and Essays....

Pretty much sum up this week so far...
I have my final three assignments due at various intervals starting next week. Typically it's the week I am so tired all I want to do is sleep...
Thank good for energy drinks huh???!!!





I am also really annoyed that I want so many things: I need them all but the funds are zero at the moment: well they are always low but extra zero at the moment...It's the most frustrating part of my degree: the money. I am not entitled to a huge student loan due to my bursary: which is teeny tiny. I think in total my student finance is about £6K a year. How do I live? ha! I don't I guess plus credit cards + overdrafts...

This was particularly difficult to leave on the shelf today

I loved his first novel 'Shadow of the wind' and I expect this one to be as wonderful...No books for Carly :(

I also want this game



My joy at the platform being both Mac & PC was short lived when I realised the operating system it requires is the newest version which is just cruel. I literally brought my Mac a few days shy of the latest version and £80 for an upgrade is another big fat 'no'. So there you have it my dreams of playing the Sims 3 all summer is over...

I also want all the Gilmore Girls on DVD - I LOVE this programme so much, I have been watching the re-runs on E4 and I could just watch it all day everyday...Yes I do have a TV addiction but hey who cares I cannot be perfect you know!!!

In other very exciting news I am going to wash my hair tonight. Ok so the earth probably won't move but we shall see how much the colour changes... so here is the before picture....
